My bike's ready to go now. I managed to pick up a 50:36 ring combo for my Campag Victory and a 13-26 screw on block all at the Ripley jumble. My attempts to lay off the pies have failed, so I'm hoping my gears will help out.

I'm on 23mm clinchers so I guess I'm in for a treat! Too late to do anything about it now...

Going for the event in 2012,those chaln rings would be of interest to me should you consider flogging after this years run

I'll be hanging on to them for the Tour of Flanders, sorry.

If I see any at jumbles, I'll pick them up and put them on the for sale. If I see any on eBay, I'll post the links.

They do come up quite often, I'd be surprised if you couldn't source some by next year.

FWIW there's an excellent bike jumble in Gaiole over the L'eroica weekend - just don't expect any bargains or take plenty of cash.

If anyone know's of any 10km dirt road ascents topping out at 20% in Derbyshire, then yes, Tuscany is just like the Peak

Were in chianti now, signed up yesterday, good bike jumble, you could come here without a bike and be OK.lots if retro jerseys which I spent days trawling the net for.
Local food is great ,terrain looks very hilly, back to the jumble this morning to look for a smaller chain ring

I'll add a thought; L'eroica is a long way, I've ridden a motorcycle to and through Italy (to Brindisi) on my way to the Athens games.

Next June I'm off to the French L'eroica - the Anjou Velo Vintage, Saumur on the Loire.

No mountains but lovely countryide nontheless and accessible.

What bike am I taking? My 1951 Hobbs of Barbican, it's been to the Loire before; in 1951 when my Wife's Dad rode it there for a Tour of the Loire Valley.

Roadking.

The guy in the black and grey quarters woollen top, 3 photos down is one of the 'faces' of L'eroica - I passed him last year just outside Asciano on the 205km route as he was hauling his way on a singlespeed roadster from about 1920.

Not sure if Kingston Wheelers lycra is quite in-keeping with the 'spirit' of the event though?

KWCC dress code was for scouting trip only, we all went retro on the day.
there was plenty of choice of retro tops and shoes at the jumble, you could basically, buy a bike and kit yourself out when your'e there.
Some tops were pricey , but bike kit seemed ok, i picked up a nice NOS rolls for 25 euro's and a moser panto stem for 20 euros , so there were some bargains
