So anyone in the UK who buys from the US is probably aware of the GSP. Personally I've had some very negative experiences and it puts me off buying things from sellers who use it.

I got an email today saying that I'll soon be enrolled - but can opt out (which I plan on doing)

Can any US ebayers provide some pros and cons based on personal experience as sellers?

I've already been using eBays GSP as a seller on eBay, is the USA on the list of countries you can use the GSP for from the UK? The few transactions I've had have been within Europe and have gone smoothly as far as I can tell.

I don't prefer ebay because of their seller friendly policy. I am ready to pay $1 to $10 more to Amazon but not to ebay....

Or by seller do you mean buyer?

Re:

I got heavily ripped off by GSP shipping a frame from the U.S. to UK once and their last mile distributor's staff were dishonest and useless....never again. It's only because I harassed them in every way that I got my frame in the end. I won't name and shame ! They charge top whack and use the cheapest services, at least in the UK, US end looks better. Far better to use your own system. Personally I like USPS Global Express Guaranteed, which takes 3/4 days and its trackable. It never cheap for me as I insist on heavy protection for he frame, increasing weight but better that than dented frames.

I bought a complete bike (Serotta T-Max) and the seller didn't read the shipping guidelines properly and packaged too big. Pitney Bowes (handle GSP in US) let the seller keep my payment,, refunded me in full and kept the bike for themselves. Despite many emails saying I wanted the bike and not the refund and would pay additional shipping if needed I got nowhere. Neither myself or the seller saw the bike again. I can't see how this policy would work for them!

On another occasion I got a different item to the one I had bought. GSP (not the seller) mixed up their post labels. Again I didn't get the item I paid for (but was refunded).

Shower of sh1t

I had a seller in the U.S. who was quite happy to ship his Judy FSX's to me but when GSP got hold of them they wouldn't ship because of the oil damper!!!!

Sent me a full refund and as above kept the forks and resold them on eBay for a higher buy it now price. I was not amused nor was the original seller.

Bought some cheaper in an amazing condition after that again from the U.S. With no issues.

Did you see them for sale after you got your refund Tim? What was the seller name?

I was gutted to lose the T-Max and knew I had got it for a bargain price. I wondered at the time what they would do with it and who knew what value it had - and what the outcome would've been had I paid over the odds for the bike and they couldn't turn a profit or at least get their money, plus any other outlay, back

Yes, up for sale once refunded. No idea of the second sellers name now. Tried searching sold/ completed items but it was a few months back.
