Last week I bought a Dura Ace 1st generation front hub on ebay.Sold as NOS it wasn't cones were pitted from use.I contacted the seller who was incredibly rude, replying with an insulting letter. He has now refunded the cost of the item but not the postage.Leaving me £3 out of pocket with a useless item.

His ebay name is "engineerf2" and the name on the paypal details is [email protected].
He says he is clearing his grandfather's shed just beware.

Re:

Suppose you could have a row with eBay for the 3 quid but I reckon you could honestly flog it for more than 6 quid anyway. Pain but sometimes life is like that.

Cheers for the heads up about that seller. Unfortunately there are a few bad eggs who spoil it.

Always raise an eBay dispute with things like this, then you get your whole lot refunded and the return postage paid for. eBay is really geared up in favour of the buyer.

When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
As jonny69 said, just open a case with eBay and let them deal with him. They protect the buyer and cover all your losses. And feedback is there to warn others and again, buyers are protected as sellers can't leave negative feedback or say anything in spite.
Unfortunately this is getting more common

Re:

The inner races are worn but not pitted,it is a useable hub, tatty but not nos as he said. Thanks for the advice.jm.

The amount of so-called NOS items is shocking and love it when a seller says ''fitted to a show bike''

I once did a thread ages ago about second-hand bike parts saying they are NOS when they are clearly not.

Re:

Yes, the NOS is a often well misused term.
There is a bike for sale here in the for sale complete section that states 'like' NOS. While technically not wrong as it is mint it can be a bit misleading. I am sure that's not the intention as the seller was trying to indicate the condition, it is still a bit subjective if it isn't actually NOS.
My opinion is if its been taken out the box and whether its been built onto a show bike or bounced around the tool box for a while it is not then NOS.
