Ebay......again

Following on to Dr S's rant about w*nkers, on ebay, i thought it was about the people in charge....

Is it just me, but lately ebay.co.uk seem to be bordering on being An*l about everything?

These days i can't seem to place a posting without it getting pulled, the reasons are said to be "inappropriate wording or links".

What i've put has been things like,

"not to be confused with Ringle" or a link to bike pro's web site or this forum!!!

It's got to the point that i've really had enough of using them (insert insult here). Don't even get me started on paypal fee's.

Anyway rant over, thanks for reading.

When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
I think eventually eBay will be dominated by large traders backed up with shops and a customer service team while the small trader / occasional seller will find it too difficult and expensive.

I've seen it change so much, I used to use Yahoo auctions before they closed shop. I have used eBay for years, but recently started to have a look at eBid, good experiences so far with them!

If eBay remove that "opt out" option for the new search at any point in the future then it all go t*ts up

Actually the new search isnt too bad now. I used to hate it but they've fixed most of the problems recently.

I gave it a chance on more than a couple of occasions, couldn't find as many items as in the old search. The new search is so much more dependant on people filling in the extra information tick boxes when listing an item.

Devout Dirtbag now 8)

Goddam!! That new search feature is a pain in the royal ass! I just can't get it working still, I've emailed, had 'live' chats and received nothing but empty promises...

Why change something that was working well? Was it a marketing decision?

I think it's a great time for some competition to step in, as mentioned in another thread somewhere (in a galaxy far far away...)

it gives me "Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Apache/1.3.34 Server at www.ebid.co.uk Port 80"

maybe because i am trying to access it from Romania??!!, if so they are absolute wa****s !

I recently sold a set of CQP cranks on ebay, in pretty good cosmetic shape and 100% functional. Right after commenting on the previous Ebay Muppet thread, I get a note last night from the buyer that says...

"cranks seem bent were you aware"

That's it. No more information, no more grammar, no idea of why buyer would percieve them to be bent. Nothing.

Buyers remorse has always been an issue on ebay, and I think that the new feedback rules allow buyers to cool off their interest in an item after auction closes, and then start complaining from a more secure and protected position. There's nothing wrong with those CQPs. I just don't think he wanted them after winning and paying and waiting a week for UPS to get them to his door.

Ugh!

how do you opt out?

Click "Buy" link on the main page, scroll to the bottom of the page and find the line

"You are currently testing eBay's new search experience. If you prefer, you can opt out of the test"

Click "opt out"

"not to be confused with Ringle"

quote]

Just to play devils advocate: I'm personally fed up with with searching for, say, Pace, and getting: 'Lovely Halfords Apollo bike - not to be confused with Pace, Yeti, Intense etc...' just to grab the keyword searches. No offence but that's a cheap trick and would not tempt me into buying your whatever-it-is when i specifically searched for Ringle. In fact it down right puts me off - even if you're selling what I actually want!

I'm sure your gear is good, so why not trust in the fact that anyone searching for retro gear already knows exactly what they want? Or just describe the characteristics of the gear itself?
