Easiest way to remove and replace grips

What I've done: Fill up a large jar with hot water and submerge one end of the bars so that the grip is under water. After a few minutes, take it out and twist while pulling. Keep repeating the process until you can remove the grip, and then repeat the process for the other grip.

Have not tried the hair dryer trick (I've not much hair to speak of  ), but I imagine that might work faster.

Hair spray for installation, and it might make sense to first heat up the grip (one way or another) to ease the process. Don't stop halfway thru installation or you might have to remove and start over.

Once again, advice from kings among men, thank you. I too love lock ons but sadly

A: I don't have any spare

B: the grips have Kona written on them and I'm a bit sad like that

I must be the only bloke on here whose wife doesn't use hairspray, would gel work in a thin layer applied to the bar before fitment ?

Hairspray dries to form a bond (think "helmet head" on ladies who use too much of it). You may feel silly buying a can of hairspray (and it may well start all kinds of rumors if you're seen buying it  ), but it's the perfect tool for the job.

Gel would never really dry (my opinion, although I could be wrong) and actually be dangerous as the grip may slip off at the worst possible time.

I use Canned Air with a flexible plastic nozzle - it creates an air gap so the grip can slide on more easily.
Ourys are an utter barsteward to get on and off though, and the can turns ice cold if you use it intensely.

I now have a deep appreciation for the simplicity of bar tape, and actually enjoy taping up my drops :D

never had any issue with GT85, once dried, the grip stays put. I'm also careful with my screwdriver, and don't gouge the bar

I use metho and a toothpick. The best part about metho is it leaves no residue and doesn't break down the rubber.

splash a ml or so of metho in the grip before installing.

It should slide on Easy :)

You mean you haven't got kebab skewers, chopsticks, perenial lube[for trees?], hair spray, knitting needles or even more worrying WD40, In your toolbox.

GT85 and a screwdriver

If you do inadvertantly scratch the bars then (actually not that easy to do) no problemo! any scratches will be covered by the grips when they go back on.
simples :)
