Easiest way to remove and replace grips

Being the proud owner of some new shifters I will be fitting them this evening, however the grips are well on there and don't want to roll back or come off, any way I can get them off without destroying ? as I'd like to put them back on they're comfy.

Try a screw driver in the end of the grip and squirt some water down then the grip should twist off, hey presto !

To put on make sure the grips are dry and then use some good hairspray and spray in the grip then push back onto the bar , wait for an hour or so and the hairspray should have dried and grips all stuck solid

hairspray. good for on and off.

i would suggest a bamboo skewer in place of a screwdriver, they are much less likely to scratch or gouge your handlebar.

or if you have it, and air compressor is even better. fill the handle bar with air and the grip simply slides off (cover any holes with your opposing hand)

try putting them back on dry when it comes time to replace. otherwise, light spray of hairspray does the trick

I used to use hairspray to fit them until I saw someone on here advocating WD40...

...now I fit all my grips with a liberal squirt of WD' - to remove them, as already suggested, insert a thin screwdriver (being carefull not to pierce the grip - works best on open ended grips used with bar plugs) then insert the long nozzle of the can and give it a squirt. Rotate
the screwdriver around the grip to allow the WD to to penetrate the full length ( ) and just slip the grip off.

Works every time... 8)

I use a screwdriver and GT85

Savage!

Poke a wooden kebab skewer/large zip tie etc under the inside edge of the grip. Into the exposed void either side of the implement squirt some wd40, water or whatever. pull out the tool and roll the grip back and forth throttle style. You'll feel the grip start to loosen. Still revving up, start to pull the grip off the bars.
Job done!

Jesus! It would appear screwdrivers are popular tools for this job. What's wrong with you people? :?
