Early mk1 DMR Trailstar restoration (no disc mount, mtb bb)

Retro Newbie
Well after finding my old abandoned project in my parents garage, i decided to take the plunge and do a full restoration/dream spec turn of millennium build.

The frame it self is in fair shape, but got moth balled for 20+ years with just a coat of primer on it, so i took it to my local powder coaters and now it looks like this

As this is essentially me building my dream bike as a teenager decided a set of '01 z1 dropoffs upfront would be ideal

Now the question is how do i finish the build, I have virtually the full M570 ('00 LX) 9 speed groupset, but its the brakes im stuck on, discs are a no due to lack of rear mount, and i was never much of a fan of shimano's v brakes compared to avid's but im also unwilling to spend silly money (like double what they cost back in the day) on a set of arch rivals, so maybe i should go silly and put some maggy hs33's on it instead, any thoughts or suggestions?

Bit of an update all but assembled just waiting on new, bolts, handle bars and grips, and then it's the decals

As it stands

I terms of work done main job was wheel and hub rebuild, full strip down and relace of wheels followed by a rebuild, usual hub overhaul done, along with a free hub rebuild, other than that is a case of clean, service, install

the more I look at this the more I think this is exactly what I'd have built back then. possibly with a few more discount price parts chucked in like a alivio brake or something.

Funnily enough it's mostly bits i either had lying about which had survived from back then or came with the bike. The bike it self has been through 2 friends hands since new and was defiantly a mid range/could afford to replace spec build. Only real upgrade is the fork
