Early 90's Santa Fe flea market find!

Just picked this up for $45 this morning, not a bad haul eh? Not a well known brand, in fact I have no idea who even sold these, but I hve owned two. The first one was not this nice. Everything is Deore LX, from end to end. The stem has a massive 28.4 quill, first one I've ever seen that size, so I guess I am stuck with this stem. The headset is a YST "Rambo", which caused a slight giggle when I read it. It rides pretty nice, and oddly enough even in the lowest gear it will not lift the front wheel off the ground easily. I have not checked whether that translates into good climbing or not. Anyway, it's a nice find, for a Sunday morning drive to the flea market.

I pressure washed it, and waxed the paint with some Meguiars cleaner wax, but that's pretty much the condition I found it in. A few tiny dots of mud, and garage dust. It was not a lot of work to get it looking this good. I did add the tires too. The rear was a newer WTB Velociraptor, and the front probably was original. (Ritchey Mega Bite) Too dry rotted to survive, unfortunately. Santa Fe made decent bikes, but there is absolutely NO info at all for the brand, anywhere. There's a New Mexico state symbol on the seat tube, but I don't know if that has anything to do with the origin. Likely just a tie in to the brand name, since Santa Fe is in New Mexico.

And it is Taiwan made, according to the head tube label. Where all the good bikes are made now...
