Early 80's Chesini Precision

Boscarn

rBotM Winner
The Chesini Precision build is under way and I have chosen some of my favourite bits for this build. I am very pleased with the results, most of the parts are NOS or in excellent condition

I did make a previous post enquiry about the frame, viewtopic.php?f=12&t=338442&start=0 .
The wheels are Record hubs with Mavic SSC rims, the front has been laced with some early Sapim aero spokes and the rear uses DT Swiss BD spokes. The Veloflex Roubaix tubs have been chosen as I believe they will make a sweet ride.

The chain set is fitted to an Omas Bottom Bracket that allows for optimising the chain line. Some super record track pedals, with a pair of re-plated 50th anniversary clips and white Binda toe straps.

Gears are a Super record; the rear is an early version and may well be replaced with the next generation version. The levers have been drilled out and at present a Connex chain works with 6 speed Dura Ace block.

Colbato brakes chosen as I like them!

I found an old Cinelli Volare SLX that needed recovering, the underside was sound and after carefully removing the top cover without damaging the foam, a new top fitted after stretching the leather. She sits on a super record seat post.

3TTT Superleggro bars and stem complete the cockpit.

Fork crown.

Front mech

Complete bike

Since the build is still under review, I will replace the rear mech with this one.

I can bling this up a bit, a gold chain and I have 50th anniversary crank covers, pedal caps and skewers that should fit the bill, opinions please.....

Fantastic bike, immaculately presented. SR rear mech for sure, not convinced it needs further "blinging up".

Your review / impressions of the Roubaix tubs would be welcomed.

Re:

Since the last post I have changed the rear mech to a later version Super record. The chain was also changed, by mistake I had fitted a 9 speed chain and when adjusting the rear mech the chain would rise and not engage on the smallest cog..... I had a new Everest Special Oro sitting in the drawer and was dully fitted, alas the problem still existed. Inspection of the block revealed one tooth was out of line, a little tweek with a screw driver soon fixed the problem.

To up the bling factor, I raided another steed to borrow the 50th anniversary crank caps, pedal dust caps and the QR’s.

The Veloflex tubs have also been changed for a pair of Vitoria Pro Team Corsa Seta Cx’s as my friend suggest they would be more suitable. Sorry FINNEY1973, I cant give you news on the Roubaix's, but I am riding some Vlaanderen and the are superbe.

Here are the results.

Re: early 80,s chesini precision

That Chesini looks all the better for some vintage Italian seta cx,s now go out and ride it

Re:

Very nice build & maybe you can get a Cinelli 1R stem maybe pantoed with chesini along with some chainrings, gear levers etc....

Stunning bike. How does she ride? I would not mind having a Chesini as my wife and I personally know the owners down the road in Verona.
Unfortunately, my first love are Colnagos (I can't say that too loud though, lol)

ha ha ... you can always secretly Chesini on the Colnago tho ...

ps: what a gorgeous bike (the above pictured one) !!
