Double build: Zaskar and P7 RS

I was under the impression tbh that you would of needed a cassette removal tool as that's the most commonly used these days due to very few wheels being manufactured with a freewheel hub since the late 80's so any way if the freewheel removal tool you've ordered is compatible with Suntour then i have a good feeling it should fit your chinese branded one and the Sunrace but in saying that their shouldn't really be much difference between the main brands with the exception of Campagnolo..

Yeah, for whatever reason the teny mag takes a screw on type. It's the first time I've ever encountered one I think- dont remeber ever fiddling with one before.

P7 update: shortest of test rides (Im not the most mobile today!) confirms it rides like a dream with the new wheels. Been thinking a little further on the clear coat conundrum: if I do that it could be my daily winter commute. Of course, I already have two other contenders for that so who knows what I'll do. I'd rather not sell it but we will see how!much riding it gets in the coming months... Great bike though!

Well tbh from leaving school in 84 up until 86 i was only aware of screw on freewheels but in 86 a got a Peugeot road bike with some weird designed mailard cassette hub that twisted as you slid the sprocket set off and the locking ring was like a flimsy tin affair that had it's own key like an old bottle opener  but after that bike i was back to using the old screw on freewheels again until 1996 when i got a Saracen hardtrax ..

Glad to see the P7 is working well with the new wheels 8) and yes the clear coat might take a bit more thinking about but just consider the coming months are likely to get rather damp so one way or another that frame is going to need some sort of protection from the elements and yes deciding the outcome of what it's going to be used for won't be easy although i did get the impression it would be used as the commuter ..

Tool here and fitting... will attepmt the switch up later on maybe.

P7 went on a nice ride this morning- it's a fantastic bike! Still no clearer on the clear coat dilemna, or even if I'll keep it, but it really is fantastic... and better still finished!

That looks amazing their mate and the green dust cap looks really well and i look forward to your update regards your new freewheel but only riding each of your bikes including this little gem will help you decide what's going and what's staying and a pity your no near on deciding about clear coating or not but i guess that's not worth doing regards cost if your selling it on ..

Well spotted! As for clear coat I'm put off since it's such a nice finish as is- I'm going to see how I get on with wax for a while before making any decision. After riding a 19" for so long I'm a little thrown still by the sizing- feels good though is shorter than I'm used to. It looks small though- not when I'm riding, just when i look at it!

Well your hints are that big now you've basically told me what you think ! regards the clear coat  .

I know what you mean regards how the size looks and how it actually feels and looks when your on it as i use too have a 17" 1995 Saracen hardtrax which actually looked the perfect size for me at 5ft11" and i was convinced it was as big as i needed but the top tube in reallity was a bit on the short side regardless of what i altered it just felt to cramped for riding a distance and i eventually got rid ..

So in reality you need to get over this mental issue as to me you've no real problem with the size if it feels okay ..

Yeah, it's just what I'm used to I suppose, and when I look at pics of my 19 I had the saddle really far forward. I think orange recommend 5ft 4" - 5ft 8" for this frame, which I'm slightly over at 5ft 10" and seems fine. Maybe my wife is right and I have short legs which help!

As for the clear coat it will all come down to the next time I see my mate in a pub- few beers might sort it... Either way there is no rush.

Well if you had to have your saddle on the 19" really far forward then it was definitely too big and never mind what Orange or any other Manufacturer recommend size wise as you can put a dozen people next to each other all of the same exact height and you can guarantee their leg length ,arm length and torso will vary with the majority of them hence why it's always wise to check top tube and seat tube lengths before buying frames or complete bikes ..

I won't hold my breath while i wait to see what happens with the clear coat as that could be a good while yet but i just hope your happy how ever things turn out ,,
