A gun will cut down the number of dogs in the rescue centres.

Would you want to pull the trigger? Seriously? I know I wouldn't be able, or even want to

I would seriously be tempted to pull the trigger given the chance on the idiots who think it's okay to mistreat and then dump dogs when the novelty of ownership wears off ..

That is one thing I hope chipping is going to help combat. We have had many rescue dogs, and the idea of abandoning such sweet, loyal animals such as they have been suggests the owners were sociopaths.

It should be a lot harder to acquire animals, proper vetting procedures cost money and that needs to be reflected in the cost of dog ownership. Insurance should also be part of any agreement, as well as proper veterinary care.

It's sad really that a minority of dog owners spoil it for the majority that truly love and cherish their animals, but if more stringent measures will mean less cruelty then i'm all for it.

I agree that it should be made a lot harder for people to buy or sell dogs and that people need to be able to fulfill set requirements plus go through a background check to help ensure the dogs won't be used for fighting or just breeding to make more money ..

I don't see why I would find it hard, they are just animals

Even better thinking about it, like sheep/pigs/cow etc they can be eaten. What better way to stop wasting money keeping them alive if nobody want to rehome them quickly. shoot (or whatever method) and make it a into a food source, there are always people willing to have unique foods that are not the common good stuffs.

Plow some money from that in to helping initial rehoming, or preferably the source of the problem as above.

It still gets me why people spend loads with vets and treatment but not on themselves with private health care.

Re:

Don't get me wrong, most people we meet on the trails or out in the countryside have their dogs well controlled and behaved.

Wonder if it's the city folk going on odd trips out that are the worse?

In theory a lot of things seem possible, reality is often very different. I'm not sure if you're being sincere, but I highly doubt that you would be able to kill a dog and live with it on your conscience
