dodgy bidding: been outbid, you guys want the bike?

doesnt look sus to me, just looks like a 'novice' to the bay. i hate these private listings tho, its supposed to stop any shenanigans, but it stops us doing a bit of research on other users bidding against us......

TBH, I don't think you could easily justify withdrawing your bid, and in any case if your maximum bid was more than £101 that means you won it for less than you were prepared to pay, which is arguably good news.

Quite a lot of people do bid like buyer 5 and they're not all inside jobs. Wouldn't it be more suspicious if he had increased his bid in regular increments? If he was doing what you suspect, surely he wouldn't have risked going from 90 to 99, he'd have tried 95 first? But even then, if your max bid had been 93 then his bid of 95 would have left him with it, which is always the risk they have to take with that tactic.

Woodpecker.

Usually a novice or cheapskate bidder....though it's tough to say. Could be a shill bidder.

wow a lot of you chaps are prepared to think the worst of people pretty fast!
I would have said it looked like some one unsure of their max bid.

no ways - would not bid against a mate!

What's the 'agreement' regarding this? How do you all leave things open for RB buddies bidding?

there is no agreement. Ebay is an open marketplace and the person prepared to pay the most will always win!

however, if i see somebody bidding that I know then sometimes I'll drop them a line and discuss it. No point in two retrobuddies bidding each other up IMO.

But - it depends how much i want or need the thing too. I nearly always play nicely though.

There's a couple of people here who I've ended up bidding against in the past but I guess all is fair in love and war :P

I've never lost an auction either - I hate auctions and prefer BIN but if forced I will bid and always win

Seeing as the bidder has no stars then he's a novice, they always treat ebays sales like normal auctions where the moment you get outbid you bid again and bid often in small amounts, wouldn't worry myself just set yourself a top limit and stick to it!
