Do you upgrade components on your Retrobikes?

I mean if you have some better component, do you change it from your bike.
If it was fitted with LX do you change to XT?
No name components like bars, stem, seatpost, etc to Boutique components?

There's loads and loads of that going on - majority in fact

Not very many builds on here are all factory, mostly the builder is expressing themselves in some way or another in their component choices

I'm the same now as i was Bitd..........Always wanting the shiny better more upmarket components for my rides

If i had a build that was in the catalogue as fitted XT then i would keep as it is.

But all my builds have been sold as frames BITD. Never been one for buying a complete bike since i was in mid 20's
Takes away the fun of the build
Buying frame then which forks, cranks etc

Depends on the bike.

If it's something fairly common, I wouldn't mind upgrading it with period-correct parts or even modern ones.
However if it's a rare bike, I'll try to keep it original.

i have two of my bikes that are 100% original....my clockwork and my stumpy. I think their retro value lies in their originality and so i leave them.....my other retro rides recieve period upgrades as and when i see something i fancy, they are always period things though..... :D
