hi all
i havnt built a light since last year even though i bought a load of supply parts leds optics etc. all mt previes lights have been built using p4,s or p7,s.this light is a upgrade for a mate at work 2 x xlamp 7090 xp? dx .8amp driver folded and welded body as i havnt acess to a mill at the momment.cant beleive how far they punch compaired to the p4,s i think i,ll only use cree,s from now on.

im hoping to have some bodys milled once ive finished this so the machine shop can quote a price it will be out of one peice of ally block

can get by with electrics and can program cnc's in me sleep
but electronics is a bit new to me

Standard alkaline AAAs = 1.5v. Rechargeable AAAs = 1.2v. So you're looking at 10.8v to 13.5v for 3 lights / 3 batteries each. You can get drill battery packs at 10.8v. Other options might be 3 x 3.7v 18650 cells = 11.1v. If you're feeling saucy, you could risk overvolting with 14.4v packs, they're pretty common and cheap too.

What do you guys use for connector cables? I looked at the magicshine extension cable to cut up to connect battery pack to the light, but it's £5. The benefit is that the connection has a cowling on it to protect from rain.
Do you guy's use USB cables or something? How do you protect from water on the connections?

I've got a pile of stuff lying around.Nightsun,Electron and a BLT single 15w on helmet mount,plus 2 bottle batteries,2x6v sealed lead acid and 2x12v ones too,though given the size of them are pretty useless for using on the bike :?
The electron[10w+5w] is working and i use that.The BLT is complete but needs new conecting wires and the nightsun is just a shell.I was hoping to at some point come up with some sort of super powered LED triple lamp using the dual shell of the nightsun lamps with the blt becoming a headlamp.
I want to drop the heavy sealed lead acid batteries and use lithium ion or nickle metal hydride batteries to power it.
Im ok putting things together but its the electrical stuff i know nothing about :?
