DIY bike stand

Hi guys,
im going to be making a bike stand out of scaffolding pipe and a pipe clamp
i shall probably put some photos on some general details about it :)

so far i have just bought:
Pipe Clamp - http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Axminster-Axminster-Heavy-Duty-Pipe-Clamp-Set-32094.htm the 3/4" pipe seems incredibly expensive so i will be hunting for some at the scrap yard/plumbers

Scaffolding and bits - http://www.scaffolding-direct.co.uk/Tube_Clamps_33.7mm_75/index.aspx i bought 6.4m of 37.3mm pipe and 3 Ts and 1 elbow and im trying to get another short T added to the order for putting on the suppport pipe and then mounting some tray for putting tools on.

To modify the pipe clamp your going to need a mig or a friend with a mig :) fortunatley i have one at school and someone down the road has one! il be bending a piece of 4mm or 5mm steel at a 90 degree angle then mounting it at a 45 degree angle on the pipe clamp so basically when closed it looks like this: <> inside i shall line it with inner tube so as not to ruin the paint

I would like to here if anyone has any ideas to put forward
Cheers,
Will

oh and if anyone does happen to have any 3/4" steel or iron pipe hanging about (pref. 40cm +) and would like to help me out. . .

Personally i'd use a large pair of mole grips with some angle bar welded to the jaws.
Sash cramps can easily apply several tons ,and you could do more damage than you mean to

Consider though how much youll spend on a bike bit only to sell it a year later for x amount of its worth.
Here on retrobike nobody makes any money really

Go and buy one,it will last for many years and will still give you a good return should you sell it
Personally ive spent about a couple of hundred on bits and pieces that its unlikely ill ever use :?

im sorry but your totally missing the point - i get something out of making a bike stand - a totally upgradable stand - it may not be the best but its going to be pretty solid. also why would i sell it? -.- ive just bought all the parts so its a bit late now . . . and parks cheapest stand is 80. . id rather have my own. . .
and regarding your comment of spending 100s of pounds on stuff your never going to use - do you really think this isnt something i am going to use. . . i would say ive come to the point where a bike stand is pretty essential

If you're going to pick things apart why ******* bother asking via a post

Do what ever you want.

Also rather than bending flat bar you can buy angle iron already the <> shape.

hey kaiser - yeh i have been having a look through instructables and various other places - the good think about scaffolding is that you just have to whack an allen key out and then voila its apart - even though im not going to take it apart very often. . .

EDIT - didnt see your last post until now. . ok thanks - i reckon i can get some 90 degree section down where this welder lives - he has alot of metal. . . hehe

@dyna-ti - sorry if i was a bit hostile, im in a bit of a bad/depressed mood :? so i was a bit snappy - il have a think about the mole grips. . . its quite a good idea - il see how the pipe clamps pans out, i dont plan on tightening it up loads when mounting bikes so hopefully i wont end up squishing any tubing . . . i havent seen any massive mole grips though. . . which is the problem really, if i could customize  some mole grips i have a feeling it might work out

Removed cos im a dick
