£42 for box and delivery is, in this case, disproportionate to the likely selling cost so my first step is to source a suitable box, hopefully from a local cycle shop. Then I'll advertise the bike here initially to see what reaction I get. I'm optimistic that this forum does not suffer the serial flippers of eBay/Gumtree who habitually submit 50% or less offers. Let's see

I've not been long here myself mate, over the last couple months I've met at least four or five guys off here in person & they have all been sound as a pound..
I don't believe anyone would get away with trying to make a quick buck off a fellow member...

Seatpost Diameter

I have the EXACT same bike, which my folks bought for me for high school graduation. I am restoring it as a comfort bike for my mom who is emotionally attached to the frame. The frame was in bad shape so I had it blasted and powder coated. Anyway, long story short, I switched the seatpost in my ignorant college days and now I don’t know the original seatpost diameter.

Would you mind measuring yours (if you still have it) and post it?? It would be so helpful. Cheers!

Here are some pics of the progress so far. By the way, I noticed you have some seatstay mounts for a rear bike rack. Did you add those yourself? I'm adding a rack to it, so I'm just curious. Thanks!

Sorry for the delay replying to your posts. That's a nice job you are doing there on your Apex.

The seat post diameter of mine is 27mm measured with a vernier caliper. It's the original Avenir post.

The seatstay mounts are original to the bike. I didn't add them. Interesting that your frame does not have them but otherwise looks identical. As you mention High School Graduation I guess you are in the United States so maybe the Apex spec for Europe was slightly different? I'm in the UK.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have about the Apex.

Thank you for taking a measurement! I really appreciate it. I have a 26.8 in there now and I figured it was a bit small. I am in the US and hopefully the seatpost specs were the same. I can't imagine them using a different size since they are both Avenir posts originally. I will see about picking up a 27.0 and stretching the ears out a bit to get it to fit.

In the meantime, here are some updated picks of the finished product (so far)!
