Dent in steel seat tube. Intervention needed??

Remove paint, weld and grind/sand into submission.
It'll be fine.

Edit; Maybe even drill a hole in stress points and weld back.
Just don't drill nilly willy as that could make it worse.

Yeah, just cut out this section of the tube and weld a new part in. Sod it, chop the frame in half and weld in a carbon rear-end. Honestly :eek:

The Explosif tubeset, in this case Columbus Max, is super strong and wafer thin, even on the seat-tube. Someone will have the technical specifications. My point is, get expert advice from someone who really knows how to manipulate steel.

If you want to get the dent out I'd consider speaking to a local good (and I will emphasise that point) PDR guy. I've got a local one here I use from time to time who's excellent and loves all sorts of interesting challenges. A seat clamp on at the top to prevent distortion there and I reckon they'd get that out with very little time or effort.

This 👍

I made one of these to take out a ding from my Roberts. Clamp the frame gently in the wood on a bench vice or whatever you have and gently wiggle it. The frame gets hot!
I virtually took out the whole dent. Miraculous!
Make sure you cut the hole dead straight and at the correct diameter of the tubing.
