Anyone got any Princess Di stories to add to this, be just like my fave newspaper then :)

My 2 ex and the present wife are foreigners. Have all come to GB via different ways, marriage, student & asylum all are happy here, work & pay tax. (Two were not happy with me  )

The media either home in on the 'rotten apples' or the liberals paint a 'rose' tinted picture of the system.

A 'sweeping brush' out look wont help.

I will say though..when things are good..very few worry about immigration

when things are tight..some..look for a scape goat

Good point. Even in less recent times certain elements of society - newspapers are often amongst the worst offenders - have always been very quick to blame "them" (for varying values of "them"; Irish immigrants, the Jewish community, etc., etc.) when things take a turn for the worse. Sadly people don't seem to have learned from history and such finger-pointing and blame-laying goes on.

I blame all the time travelers coming back from the future and stealing all our jobs.

Too right! There's one such type who apparently goes around calling himself "The Doctor" - and the BBC has the cheek to go giving him a sizeable chunk of my licence fee. Shocking! ;)

Shocking and completely unaccountable too.

B4stard flies around, doing what he wants, when he wants, with whoever he wants, and even when asked never gives his damn name.

And that blue box? Could do with a lick of paint and a changing-rooms style makeover inside - after all the money that gets chucked his way, you'd think he'd doff his cap to middle-England, and the daytime-TV-watching lobby.

It's an insult, I tell you, an insult to the British tax and TV Licence fee payer (you're supposed to imaging that rant with a framed Daily Mail on the wall behind me, and either Land of Hope and Glory or the theme to Dad's army playing in the background).

Well, I'm polish emigrant doing some IT job here... but starting doubt if truly I am. Never get drunk, pay full taxes, haven't used any benefit at all and (God forgive me)
sending just a little money for my family, etc., etc. I just doesn't fit to broad generalization. I feel ashamed for my nation keep drinking all the time in opposite to Brit natives who's never goes to pub and never get hammered.
Some words said here personally does not insult me, but little worry when people keep on saying emigrants (Polish in this case) does this and that based on single accidents and all turn in to main generalization and hate.
Obviously, is a narrow minded thinking but dangerous from my point of view.
Last words what I was heard lately were “a job stealer“. Actually, how on earth you can steal a job? You are competitive by doing something or if not, go look elsewhere no matter who you are.
Simple as that. I just have a job in Scotland because I taken this opportunity in EU, stay pretty close to mountains I couldn't leave without and like English language.
Please feel free to continue topic, I'm leaving now.

Forget immigration, here's a story to MAKE YOU REALLY MAD. I really feel for some people, they have a tough time.

Nicely said. Some of those shooting their mouths off here should read that and have a think.

+1. Good post by Radoslaw, and after all us cyclists are often at the pointy end of shoddy media-led generalisations and thus maybe ought to know better. I presume you were being tongue-in-cheek about the Daily Blackmail's wheelie bin story though?
