Build a superlightweight radial front road wheel with it, aero cx-ray spokes.

There are too many lateral forces with mtb, and that rim is way too beefy for a good match.

You should be able to get a rim brake 700 rim for very little£

We've got loads old stock - every trad bike shop will be the same

It was designed for a mountain bike.

& I don’t own a road bike so wouldn’t be able to test it.

QR Mtb and road hubs are the same fitting.
Many top brands don't differentiate.

As a rule mtb hubs are more substantial, stiffer, with better seals.

Time to build yourself a road bike
