whilst similar to Chater Lea the lugs are C.B's own "Super-Cutaways" popular on their frames from the late 1930's
Griff

They don't look like cast lugs they look very thin, like sheet steel.

The head clip is not Chater, but the pattern of the lugs looked like chater, but in the close up I can see they are more like a welded lug. A cast bottom bracket often has a makers name.

It looks 1939 to me, with chater cast lugs. The twin cable Cyclo gear in the catalogue is far earlier, I think originated in 1933, The Benelux was about 1950.
Sorry, I meant 'Cyclo' rather than 'Benelux'. :oops:

Senior moment.

Thanks for all this useful info, in the short term I am going to get her running for the Vintage Velo in Anjou.
So probably will fit stuff scrounged from hither and thither not necessarily completely in keeping with the age of the bike.
I will not alter the frame in any way so after the event I can spend some time looking for more period parts to bring her back to her former glory.

Re:

Hi, looks good any closer pictures, is that feel for the better, or just different, I find the relaxed angles from the 30's and 40's a nice ride, I have less speed recently so I appreciate the softer ride. Terry

Re:

Just different I think, I need to go out on a decent ride to get the set up right. I am getting a very dull knock from bottom end under load which needs investigating.

Any how a few close ups;
