1953 21inch Claude Butler Frame - need advise on selling

Hi Everyone.
My dad has asked me to help him find a buyer for his father’s original 1953 Claude Butler bike frame.
He has the full history of the bike as his father used to own a bike shop and built it for himself, hence the smaller frame size of 21inches, as he was 5ft 4.
Built from Reynolds 534 tubing and the frame number is 2674.
Over the years it’s been passed down the family and I personally used to ride it when I was a kid.
I’ve put a listing on Facebook market place and a price of £50, but I feel this probably won’t create any interest as it feels like the wrong place to try and sell it. Does anyone know a good platform to advertise it on, and is £50 a sensible price?
Thanks in advance to any advice people may have.

Hi
Facebook is OK, there are bargains to be had, but also many buyers are a little wary as there's a fair amount of scamming and dead ads there too. (Just do a search on Vintage bike frame, you'll find 100's)

This is a lovely frame, but it needs a bit of work to restore it, so that limits the number of buyers to those who either have the skills to do it, or to pay someone else to do it. Many of those folks are on here! So, have you thought of posting it in the 'Road For Sale' Thread here?

Otherwise there is eBay.

Prices for these old frames are variable. £50 is not unreasonable - it appears to be a higher end CB frame, based on the lugs.

Sometimes it is just a case of waiting for the right buyer to come along.

Good Luck with your sale :)

two big points to keep in mind that make it desirable/valuable -

a) it is quality

b) it is a "Claud Claud", i.e. produced prior to the Holdsworthy acquisition of the marque in 1958

Get the elbow grease out & clean it up as best as you can as photos tell a 1000words for any buyer to get interested…

Thank you so much for the replies. Yes probably a good idea to try and give it a spruce up, will suggest that to my dad.
Will try putting it on the for sale forum on this platform, didn’t realise I could do that as thought it was just a web site for discussion etc
Thanks for the advice. It would be lovely to find it a good home.
