Danish Rides

Calling all Danes. I know you are out there.... :D

I may be off to Denmark with work soon and I was wondering what the riding is like. I will be based in Esbjerg, but I saw some hills around Kolding when I was there recently. Is it roadie land or are there some good trails?

Cheers

i'l ask my girlfriend when she gets home, she's half danish and has been out there a lot. but she might just come back with "its good" lol ???

Excellent. There must be a few hills somewhere in Denmark!!

Its so bike friendly though proper cycle ways and all that makes using a bike in everyday life a pleasure!!

Of what I've understood, you don't exactly "mountain bike" in Denmark because the country is so flat but there are supposedly some bigger hills southwest of the city of Århus.

Okay.. here's the lowdown.

I've lived here since 94 and basically - Denmark is crap for MTB-ing. Bring a cyclo-cross bike instead.

Notable exceptions (where it is OK but don't expect epic rides but the odd bit of technical woodland singletrack) are southern part of Funen (near Faaborg) and area around Silkeborg (which is near Århus)

Area near Copenhagen is bobbins for MTBing. Rode a cross bike there until I moved to Funen.

Road riding is probably going to be more fun to be honest, if you don't know your way around.
