At st peters brewery in suffolk there is a lovely moat round a monastic building that used to be full of carp....big ones that you could feed etc....
The fish had lived happily in the moat for over 600 years,,,,same strain not same fish....
They have been wiped out completely by otters that were released into the area by a damn fool with no licence to do so.....
they are systematically wiping out fish en-masse.... :x :x
Ponds in gardens rivers lakes.....they do not take a fish for food but kill unreservedly like a fox in a hen house...I have seen 14lb bream with only one bite....dead.....40lb carp that are sometimes over 50 years old themselves...dead....again one bite......tench weighing 9lb dead....one bite.......bloody things :x :x
They died out for a reason....lack of food.....they get rereleased by uneducated "animal rights activists" etc...these fools know nothing of local ecology etc...like when the idiots released mink and in their ignorance wiped out our native water vole in most of the broads :x
There are a good quantity of fish in the broads because they have not been targeted by any species for near 100 years...otters are most welcome there..but they are indiscriminate killers......
They climb over fences and get into private lakes and have wiped out peoples entire businesses in a few weeks..thousands of pounds worth of fish in peoples fisheries......people I know have been pushed close to bankruptcy by damn otter while the righteous activist etc sits in his cosy home and is oblivious to the damage being done....
rant over....
