Last summer i bought one of the Weeride child seats for my Spesh to take my 2yr old out for rides. She liked it so much i took the plunge and bought her her own bike so rather than go the stabiliser route i thought i'd go for one of the wooden push along bikes without pedals as i was led to believe these will teach her to balance ready for when she gets a pedalled bike. So a quick look on the bay and i found one cheap as chips from St John St cycles £28 delivered.

The bike arrived 2 days later pretty much pre-built so i finished it off and she jumped on it and was off no stopping her, I think we have a new biker in the family.

Here it is.

Have to add for the price the bikes are very well finished with foam inserts between the forks and headtube so little fingers cant get trapped. Nicely padded seat and height adjustable seat also.

If you are thinking of a bike for your young one take a look at a wooden one loads of designs and colours to choose from.

Trying to get my 2 year old into bike - her seat's on a bike small enough that Dr Kestonian can ride it, too, so it's not the best one for me in the stable but I still love it.

Might have to give the like a bike a try though ...

 Nice one.....last summer my 4.5 yo wanted to learn how to ride her bike like Daddy.....so I whipped off the stabs and away she went.......
Yup, thats called a faceplant sweetheart
and that
and that
and that
try looking where you are going...chin up
no......CHIN UP
thats called a face plant as well
Didn't take her long at all....and she didn't whinge when she ate the dirt....good on her.
Now a fully fledged cyclist!

I spend my sundays in the park pushing my 2 year old up and down the riverbank- there were loads of us dads after christmas but the numbers have seriously dropped off.
Shes got the steering and peddling thing sussed and we're are working on braking at the moment. The poblem is shes easily distracted- and she steers towards what she looks at which is worrying for both me as a parent and the ducks in the river.
On a technical note, she knows every component of a bike now, she wandered into my office this morning and started rumaging through the box I found in the loft the evening before. 'oooh Daddy, nice brakes' she said looking at a set of Pauls cantis 'its oldskool daddy' she said before wandering back out! My heart almost burst with pride I tell yer
She was also trying to put a pair of Kookas on her little bike last sunday- she had them the right way round and everything.

My daughter is sat asleep on my lap now. I'm trying to get her to look at the bikes here but she's not interested.... It'll happen.

I can't wait to buy her first bike, I have a feeling it will be bought long before she's capable of riding it :)

Amazing the influence we have - I was fiddling with my bikes in the garden yesterday when my youngest walked up and said "That's not a Merlin, it's a Pace. That ones a Merlin"

She was right, too!

Haven't taught her to fit brakes though. Must try that ..

That little 'like a bike' like bike looks like it might be the bike my daughter would like.

Though looks to be £40 now :( was it on offer or something?

ta..
