Curious workshop ….

I hate all the b0ll0ck5 around AI. I mean yes, there is a profound leap in computing power taking place - which potentailly has loads of benefits. What is it being used for though? Generating trailers for 1950s versions of Star Wars, producing stupid pics like the one above, making it harder for the young to get a first job because companies are sold 'Cambridge grad' level AIs - which ends up being total balls. We are in the snake oil phase of this new tech and all the hucksters are out hawking cod machine intelligence - and both sellers and buyers don't seem to give a toss about anything other than 'look, we use AI....SHINEYYY!!!'.

I risk falling foul of forum politics rules but I will say generically AI is being used to further the interests of capital and sod the people caught up in the rush to adopt it. And I am so sick of having to grin and nod and tow the line that this is some great thing. We are turkeys voting for Christmas.

That's not politics, it's economics.

Politics would be saying the free-marketeers are selling us smoke and mirrors and the socialists are selling us doublethink.

Luckily he can't find a working phone box,
In fact he can't find any phone box that isn't a bookstall or defibrillator,
so you can finish your ale in peace😁
