Cracked sump woes

Sat in the lovely town of whittlesey with a cracked sump curtesy of the bouncy fenland roads. :? Sitting in a puddle of me own oil and not going to the beach today. If ever there was an arguement to have two cars...

Can sometimes be welded . . . . or have known people execute a reliable fix using chemical metal.

depends what the crack is like but I got mine fixed with epoxy, saved me over £80

yeah, the retrobike garage is looking more and more vulnerable... :roll:

Oscillating road surface (a bit like BMX 'doubles') and a pancake landing does not help. That road has got worse this summer through lack of rain.

I ran into a large rock and cracked the pan on an Alfa GTV I owned once. I got out and saw the oil flowing to the ground. I was, however, only less than a mile from my friend Charlie Cunningham's house, so I drove there immediately before all the oil flowed out and he was then able to weld up the Aluminum sump for me. Saved by a friend!

VW direct £139 + VAT and oil and labour and tea...

although I've just found them on Eurocarparts for £78.67... :? Hmmm...
