Coyote Ultralite 96/97 UPGRADING

What is 4X? ..I'd very much like to know what frame you have there (model, year, size) anything really that might help me advertise for one.

This is a picture of an HT1 Ultralite from a 1998 advert. Not very clear I'm afraid but gives a general idea of its appearance. Funnily enough, the shops advertising them in the same magazine had both HT1s and HT2s, even though the Coyote advert was still pushing the HT1.

Incidentally, they used to cost £399 and £449 respectively, whereas say an Orange E4 frame was £550 and a Kona Kula was £599. All made of the same tubeset, wouldn't surprise me if they were all made in the same factory, but you pay for the name and some names cost more than others

This HT1 looks later to me than thewallboy's frame that you posted a link to, but it still has round cross section stays.

I'm surprised that FST4RD says his even later frame was designed for 4X. Had they stopped using a lightweight Easton tubeset by then? It seems strange that they would use a brand name that they had built up as being full-on xc racers for a purpose for which you need something burly, not light.

Cheers Ant' ...some great info. My frame does look exactly the same as your ad pic, except mines is (or was, lol ) polished chrome.

So What do u think FST4RD's frame is? HT3/4/5? ...looks like a 15.5" to me, at a guess. Seen any/many for sale on here at all? I would buy that frame off him in a heartbeat, but i don't think he want's to part with her. Will have to just gather info and keep me eyes peeled. Also i will throw a pic up when i get my camera back.
