Covid Edition Rat 93 Orange Clockwork.

Re:

Maybe it's just the pictures, but isn't that front mech wrong? It looks like a bottom pull mech where you need a top pull mech?

Re:

Cheers dude.

Been tinkering today. Seem to be struggling to stop the rear mech from fouling on the largest rear sprocket but getting close after shortening the chain. With the wide range front rings and short cage mech I think I have to accept I won’t have a full spread of gears.

In better news I sorted the shifter. Turned out the cable had got caught in the wrong bit of the shifter due to it being old and baggy. Works now. :D

Unfortunately a mixture of stiff front mech and a pulley that hasn’t moved in years and won’t unscrew due to being corroded in means front shifting is worse than the terrible rear atm!

Re:

So a good soaking of GT85 overnight seems to have freed the mech and pulley enough to get them working! :D

Bit more tinkering today and I reckon it's about done except for tidying the cables. Not bad for a box of unwanted bits bike in my opinion. Best thing is that after a quick spin it doesn't feel too small set up like this. Compared to my modern saddle the Flite feels sweet too so might need to pinch it.

Re:

The problem now is though that it turns my mind to my mint orange/white that needs building up. I'd been in no rush as I thought it would be a wall hanger due to being too small but if I set it up like the Covid Rat then it would be usable. :?

I'd always thought the orange/white needed a black Stalk stem and had a very definite of how I wanted it built. I have a black Stalk in the same length as this one but not the rise so it puts you right over the front. My other Stalk is too short for me and again, has no rise. I'm not usually a fan of huge seat posts and stems but I think this one looks okay. Maybe it's the use of grey and aluminium that disguises the weird proportions? The stem on this is good enough to go on a mint build but would the orange/white amplify the small frame?

Also thinking RC35's would raise the front a bit allowing for the stem to be slammed? Hmmmmm, only one way to find out......

I had a black elevated stalk long stem a few months back, sold it on.. it would of been perfect for your next clockwork. Anyway that grey clockie looks pretty dam good.
