Covid Edition Rat 93 Orange Clockwork.

Looking good & characterful.

What do you do to keep on to keep on top of the rust & stop it getting worse? I'm curious as I'm thinking of abandoning a plan to get one of mine powder-coated & doing it up as is. I'm planning on touching up the worst bits & a spot rust treatment & coat of Simoniz or similar

To be honest the whole bike was like the forks originally so I just went at it with a scouring pad and. Have not treated it yet and probably won't. The forks don't seem to have really got any worse.

Re:

New tool arrived today. :D

Hope it lasts longer than the cheap ones I usually buy.

Re:

Bit of time to mess about so got the bb in (Was saving this one for a posher build but needs must), crank (LX M563) attached, swapped the minty LX M550 front for a tatty but black LX M560 after bringing it back to life and started to cable up the gears.

Re:

Got the rear gears somewhere near, sourced a long enough front cable which I threaded ready to attach then found out the front shifter doesn't work.

Will have a play with it to see if it's just gummed up or is actually broken before reverting to plan 'B' which is thumbies and rat look SS5's. Problem if I go down that route is I'll be tempted to replace the LX with battle scarred XT I have. :?

Shame about the shifter. Scrubbed up a treat this. Also fond of a few battle scars too. I reckon one day you will find a mint one in this colour scheme..just keep looking

Yeah, great period for cobbling something up - even the road stuff mixes and matches well with the MTB stuff.
