cleaning stuff up and removing the scratches

what is everyones preffered method of cleaning stuff up and returning it to its shiny former glory?

I was wondering wether there was a simple and hopefully easy way of getting rid or scratches (or at least negating the worst of it).

I thought about wire wool or wet and dry or would this be too harsh?
any thoughts anyone.
cheers

Cleaning

Agree with Autosol, apply with tooth brush !!!

also duraglit for alloy

very fine wire wool for chrome

Mr Sheen for paintwork

Hey,

The following have always worked quite well for me:

Chrome: aluminium/tinfoil with cola (or vinegar seems to work as well).
I have read various sources that say steel wool is not a good idea on
chrome - it will gradually destroy the top layer of chrome leaving the
nickel plating underneath exposed. The nickel plating looks shiny at first but will eventually tarnish.

Aluminium: Autosol or similar stuff seems to do a fine job

Paintwork: I usually use car polish followed by car wax. A bit extravagant
maybe but it does produce a nice shine and it goes a long way on a bike

I think Autosol do a specific scratch remover for paintwork. I would avoid using ordinary Autosol on paintwork because it is abrasive.

Good luck,

Johnny
