Chris Boardman bikes- kinda retro in away..what do you think

I echo what Rekiborter said..

The only reason for me to buy would be the same as said before - to strip the parts.

My 2p worth.

Agree.
Mr B is a cyclist not a designer,he couldnt tell left from right in that department, but then, thats not why he's there

I built a Boardman bike with DI2 for Team Sky's equipment buyer to test a few months before the team launch. Looked OK to me.

Why all the hatred for Halfords?
Because not only do we all share an interest in bikes, but we have all at some point visited helfrauds[to give it it's proper title]to have some mechanical work done.
My story of horror and woe is that they attempted the take off the upper race of my CK headset using a flat bladed screwdriver.i say attempted because there was a bit missing when the bike was returned.

I've watched large companies ruin my own trade,i see the same thing happening to the trade of the bike mechanic.
Trained mechanic in every store  .Define trained

I think they mean "knows not to climb on the furniture and use the toilet"....... :P

Halfrods is awright for odds and sods, but no way I'd let them spanner my bikes. Unfortunately large organisations succeed by ubiquity as opposed to quality.

Ah right, Ive never had any mechanical work done by them so cant comment, i have to say though there customer service was good when i bought my boardman, i had to order it as there were non in stock, they told me the day it would be in, asked me if i wanted it boxed or built so i said if i build it myself does it affect the warranty and what if there was anything damaged? the girl i was dealing with said any problems just bring it back and they would take care of it. When the bike came in they rang me straight away and again asked if i wanted it built. Overall i would say the customer service was different from any LBS.

It is very easy to be helpful and appear to know what youre talking about but as said previously they know nothing about bikes,I watched some thirteen year old  trying to set some v brakes up with a pen knife and a g clamp holding the brakes to the rim,it is like watching a cannibal perform brain surgery  they know were it is but can not be deft with their tools,I also heard about a guy on here who asked for a headset reamer and the staff hid behind the door laughed and picked his nose for a couple of minutes as he obviously had no idea what one was

I guess I am lucky I learned to spanner my own bikes before ever encountering Halfords. Being from a crofting background, we did everything ourselves. I have rarely been without a toolkit, no matter where I have been living.

I had no idea they began as a cycle store.

I always assumed they were a car accessories store that branched into selling cheap bikes along side the cheap tents, etc.

You learn something new every year!

:)
