Chainstay protection

Used those Pace Carbon patch things on my M2 to allegedly prevent cable rub. useless, just slid down after no time at all.

Now use Park or specialized clear glueless puncture repair patches, excellent and cheap too.

Lizard Skins neoprene chainstay protectors - cheap, do a good job and last practically for ever - what more could you want ? 8)

Had a friend who wrapped old worn out tyre with the bead cut off around his chainstays held in place with cable ties. The effect as the tyre was Knobbly was somewhat aggressive looking but also quiet as the thick rubber absorbed any chain slap. I prefer to use old inner tube secured with electrical tape, as good as neoprene for loads less cash ! Road bike bar tapes another good one.

Cheers

Looks indeed quite good on more Hard Core orientated bikes.

On other bikes I use neoprene stuff, combi of shark fin with clear plastic under ...and on some roadbikes: http://cgi.ebay.nl/Shimano-chainstay-pr ... m153.l1262

Love that tyre look, would not suit my skinny Explosif in white though. Clearly I need something a bit chunkier to copy the idea to. Now where is that Pace...

I have allways used ice hockey tape. Its the stuff they wrap on the stick blade. Works great.

I have always used the Lizard Skin neoprene covers, they do them in a standard size for steel frames and they are easy to put on and take off. Also avoids using anything sticky on the frame so it doesn't have to go with the bike if you sell it on, even Shark Fins have a sticky bit if applied correctly.

Trevor.
