Cannondale Sm700

Fenland Dragon

Devout Dirtbag
Hi,

I thought I should introduce myself with this thread.

This is my first retro bike restoration project.

It is a Cannondale Sm 700 - 1988 vintage it is the downward sloping top tube version. It went to the powdercoaters today and will be painted in black.

Hi

Hi Tony?,

Yes it is me... How are you?. What a surprise to see you here?. This site is great! infinitely better than MSN or Facebook.

I have finally got round to start this project. Frame, Forks and Stem (the top section) went to Powdercoat Jeff's at lunchtime for painting today.

Thanks for your advice. Any new projects in the pipeline? Or bike purchases recently?

you do know that you can get replacement top tube cable guides and replica decals dont you? :D

nothing major, got some 1 inch rockshox for the mrs trek bike
this week end doing mt first mtb event since about 92 or 93 doing the wharncliffe weekender organised by steve peat over at suprisingly enough wharncliffe woods
youngest daughters doing it sponsored 10 km fun event-reckon we will probably be the slowest
excited and scared at the same time-she may be faster than me

Re: Hi

Looks grand. Look forward to seeing it complete. Often think that cannondale get short shrift here. Maybe due to their bad rep or shift slightly down market later in the 90s. Who knows?

Blimey, quite an accolade :D

Frames

Thanks for your post John, I will keep the forum posted with the progress. Frame should be back next week from powdercoat Jeff's.

RE: Frame according to the 1988 catalogue there were 2 frame types:

Sloping version with a high BB height. It appears sloped when I had it next to my 1996 Kona Kilauea and 1995 Cindercone both 18" frames and the sloping tope tube was quite obvious.

And

Top Level Tube - the Sm500.
