Beautifull job ! I agree, this site is dangerous and addictive !
Welcome too to the old c'dale owners !
I don't think that c'dale made sloping/level frame before 1989. Before 89, there were the mountains-alpine frame, with 2 options : the 26 or the 24" rear wheel. The mountain frame were sloping, with Ubrake, and an high BB geometry. This geometry became the sloping geometry of the "beast of the east" after 89. (I saw the SM500 of the 88 catalog. the frame was level, but it was the first bike with this frame but not really buit for racing or mountain biking. On other hand, in the geometries page, C'dale give it the name of "SM500 frame", not "mountain frame"). What is funny, the next year, C'dale built its competition series frame with a level and more classic geometry. Only one frame was built with the sloping frame)
In 1989, came the 3.0 frames series, with the big 2" diameter diagonal tube. You could find the frame with the level or sloping geometry.
Pierre: How much diffrence is there between the Sm700 ( the one I have) and the Sm1000 Red Shred from the same year 1988?. The only visible diffrence is the colour of the decals one is white the other black (sm1000)?.
