Can we be told in advance about BOTM?

My feeling is that Ameybrook was correct in some of his ponts, but lost ground a little with his crack about not wanting to go to a car show and see Toyotas. Surely something like a Marin or a Kona is the bike equivalent of a Toyota? Decent, reliable and thick on the ground? I would even argue that Specialized are the Ford of the bike world, lots of reliable runaround and then chuck out some top end desirable stuff?

So what you're saying is that it was OK for you to enter a bottom end, Far Eastern manufactured production bike when that was all that you had, but now that you've raised your game, you're not interested in seeing anyone elses?

if RetroBike is all inclusive, why not just enter a budget(stupid term, almost all my high end stuff was bought on the cheap) bike any month and let the people that like it vote for it. with the amount of anti elite, anti American(south of canada), etc sentiment around here it shouldn't be that hard to get the recognition you feel you deserve

if you do it well, people should be able to notice. if not, something people like more will win

Far from it. I lost BOTM that month IIRC, and what I didn't do is ask, "Hey Mods, can we make the next month LX-equipped Kona specific so I can have a better chance at winning?"

yeah upped my game.

Edit - and just to be sure I'm accurately addressing the above comment, I never said or meant that its not ok to post or enter low-mid range bikes. Its not what I'm interested in, but since when did I rule the world? My opinion is simply that I dont think they should configure each contest so that any bike could artificially win.
