Can someone please explain the attraction of road riding?

I don't think all cycling in London is shit I've heard that it's great for illegal street riding

I used to only do road before I tried MTB'ing. It's fun but in a different way. Used to enjoy everything from chain gangs to pottering around country lanes. Although probably primarily enjoyed the speed.

These days there are too many idiots on the road, plus more traffic in general, for it to be worth the risk in many places.
