Anyone know what shifters (if any :? ) are compatible with an 8 speed Campy Olympus rear derailleur, hub and cassette?

Just wanting to see my options before getting a wheel built up. At the moment I have many parts but no campy shifters.

Was also thinking is it possible to run Shimano compatible hub and shifter with a Shimano cassette whilst keeping the Olympus mech?

Would like to keep this bike as "Euro" as possible but may end up having to spec ol faithful Shimano.

Campag is incompatible with any others - it pulls too much cable per click.

Your options are limited to a JTEK Shiftmate on the rear mech to adapt it to run with a Shimano shifter. Fortunately, Campag shifters are pretty durable and seem more common than the rear mechs!

Re:

What hamster said, really.
But before shelling out £30+ for a Shiftmate or Campag thumbies, it might be worth trying a floating top jockey wheel; the 'float' just might accommodate for the slight misalignment. Occasionally this can work ok.

You could run any friction shifter.

And yes you can use a Campagnolo mech with a Shimano wheel and cassette I have this set up on two bikes. The parts that must be of the same family are the rear hub, the cassette and the rear shifter.

There are other solutions (we talk about this all of the time over at Retro Classic Road) American Classic makes a cassette with Campagnolo spacing for Shimano hubs. There are also certain "magic" setups. I can't remember the specifics but certain cassettes have the same spacing across the Campagnolo Shimano divide.

Re:

Thanks guys, had a feeling that this would be the case.
Looks like my best option at this stage is to keep it Campagnolo and get the shifters.

Thanks for the offer Bryncrug72 but I think this build will suit thumb shifters

cheers
