Raleigh Dyna-Tech Decade?

That is quick work. Will get the serial number off of mine later this week, currently away with work. It does look in reasonable condition. Will try and find the photos of the german one to see how that compares to yours. Mine matches the bike in test ride magazine article but don't know if they were all like that.

With the frame design it can only be an MT3, MT4 or MT5 and it makes most sense to be an MT5.

It would be worth putting the photos up on the facebook Dynatech group. One of the active members is Steve Perkins who was in the special products division in a senior capacity at the time these were built. He might be able to help with the details.
Steve was a member here for a long time a.k.a @bikemeister2000 . Interesting chap.

I’ll think I’ll wait a while and see if I can find out more before I start committing to a build though I do have some thoughts!

I guess the elephant in the room if it is a real Decade is that it doesn’t have the Trimnell fork. While I’ll keep an eye out I’m realistic that they don’t appear for sale often or at an affordable price. It’s a distinctive look and I think sways the overall build.

I’m leaning towards possibly a black build on this one. I’m thinking maybe a stem that echoes the look of the one on the Trimnell fork could work if I can find something. The fork is a tricky one. The Judy that came with it is in great condition and feels very plush. Wondering if I can repurpose that in to something with Dyna-Tech decals on it.

Don't know if this ever sold? Has the Trimnells but was needing new bearings I think..

Funny enough I saw that just after I watched this video on YouTube so I guess it did sell! Is this someone in here?

The Mk2 has a lot more engineering done by Raleigh to improve it. I've only ever seen a couple of Mk1 versions of the fork. It's difficult enough to find a Mk 2!

If I'd got it I would have gone Pace forks as that is what the team ran on the suspension version of the works bikes. But the decades are a completely different colour scheme, very understated compared to the other dynatechs.

Started to have a look at some of the parts that came off the bike. Most aren’t junk but are lower level stuff. I actually quite like the blue/grey M570 LX stuff and now have shifters/levers and brakes!*

I started to look at the shim that came off with one of the headset cups - the cup can be hand pressed without it so guess that’s the reason for it being there - not seen that before? There’s some flakes of paint on there that don’t show well on camera but are a darker metallic red. That’s got me wondering if this frame is a repaint for some reason. If it is whoever did it had access to some fairly obscure decals. I’ve looked inside everywhere with a torch and can only see evidence of the bright red paint.
