Hi

Sorting thru' parts, I have what appears to be a new quality RD but the jockey cage is rotated 90 deg from normal 'at rest' , is this an assembly issue? The spring seems ok...

Pictured on the right next to a normal one on the left.

There's a peg with a slot in the top, has the cage been tensioned and the screw put in. Item 812/1a in the diagram

Hi Shaun, thanks for your reply, the peg ( with slotted head ) is there, how do I tension the cage?

Undo the peg, from the front spin anti clockwise and put the peg back in. The cage should try and spin round but is stopped by the peg as it rests against the lower body of the mech.....

That's from memory though!

Job done!! ...how do you know that stuff!? were they shipped un-tensioned?

.....just for interest on top of the parallelogram body should be inscribed the word Patent followed by two numbers this will tell you the year of manufacture (ie: Patent 75 is 1975) if there are no numbers then it will be a rare early version from between 1967/70

Hi Griff I have a Pat 71, Pat 73, Pat 11 and a no Pat but it's got a broken rear plate missing the limit adjuster tab with screw,
