Cable Cutters - Recommendations ?

Joking aside, I'm very pleased with the Icetoolz cable cutter.

a good, solid pair of pliers for cables & a cutting disc on the dremmel or a hack saw for outers for a nice crisp, un crimped end.

I've got the Park ones and they work beauitfully. Even, stupidly, decided to cut three wheels worth of rusty spokes out with them once and even after that they still cut cable inners/outers merrily and rather nicely. Also have a little doodah for crimping your cable ends on as well. :)

And while you might pay a bit more for Park - I bought mine in about '96 and they're still going well.

I suspect that, as there are literally hundreds to choose from, so long as you buy some from a reputable source you won't go far wrong.

For the average member on here these are all you'll ever need

I seem to remember that when I used to try using a hacksaw, when I was a lot younger, I used to end up spliting the black plastic casing (especially on gear outers). Always found that proper cable cutters do a really nice job. Might just have been the younger me though. :)

forgot to say - score / cut through the casing with a knife first to give a nice clean untorn edge. it will work fine without if your blade is sharp enough. dremmel is my preferred method though - quick, clean & easy.
