C2C - Retro or Modern?

Hmmm, starting to think that the Ozone will be done (mechanically, not surface finish) by end Aug as I am just waiting for headset and seatpost. These should arrive early August from Aspire Velotech for my birthday and I reckon the beastie will be complete soon after.

Why am I tempted to take the thing on a 3-day ride when I have a nice comfy FS in the shed??? What have you guys done to me?

Plenty of people used to race DH on rigids.....can't beat it

Funny you should say that - had a really mellow ride the other day and it was an hour before I realised the forks had not even released from their locked out position!

In less piss taking mode.....I prolly wouldn't pick a stiff lump of fat alu tubes for a Long Distance route.....would stick to steel or something more forgiving

How are you going to carry luggage?
An old steel machine with panniers is much more comfortable than a rucksack on an FS.

It depends on which route you are taking - if you are doing the one over Helvellyn I wouldn't want panniers as there are a few bits of pushing, especially if the wind is against you.
