Building a commuter

Here's the one I mentioned:

Here's mine - Gary Fisher SuperCaliber, this was just after I'd bolted it all together, so chain tension needed attention!

I've since replaced the temporary saddle with a Charge Spoon.

It runs 36/16, and gets me around much of Nottingham, and rarely needs any spannering!

OK, thanks for all of the feedbaxck so far.I wont be going SS just yet owing to the amount of elevation gian over the 20 mile course, bu that may well happen once I get a few miles under the legs. Now, just a tyre question,Geax Evolutions, or Conti travel contacts? I have one of each, and wondering which one I make a pair of..... thanks, Pete

Travel contacts have served me well for years. I hope I'm not tempting fate but I've only ever had one puncture and that was from a nail that would have made short work of a rear tractor tyre  . Two of my friends use them too and also rate them. They last along time and roll well but a full slick would roll better if you are on tarmac all the way. Don't know anything about the Geax.
