Build log, ramblings, cutting down a collection

Have reached a crossroad metaphorically speaking in the riding i do, whether my road riding days are behind me and if more leisurely adventure rides/builds are the direction I'm going. Im reassessing each bike in the stable.

If my memory serves I have 8 complete bikes, 2 project frames and 2 incoming bikes.

Space restrictions mean I can only keep 4 maximum in my hideout (my 8x6 Summerhouse). 20250825_115349.webp

First up was my 1997 Rockhopper, this is one off the most versatile bikes I've owned, happy with knobbles, fully laden touring with mudguards and a rack. As it is now, with semi-slicks for adventures.

A keeper for sure.

It's even better now 😜 more power to you, just looked closer, could we see the Raleigh please.
Raleigh is only one of the 40th anniv framesets - but it is 753 and has the certificate with it, and I found a NOS Athena gruppo for it and some shiny campy rims. folks on this forum dont like the dropouts on these frames because they havent been filed super thin like 'real' SBDU frames. I quite like it nonetheless, I was 17 when the original won the tour so it kind of revives some memories too.

Thanks for the book recommendation and especially the Lenox forest route, Milngavie (pronounced milguy for the non Scots) is only 3 miles from my house and Im always looking for local routes to explore and enjoy.
