BB7's or Cheapo Shimano discs

Juicy 3's are crap in comparison...............

I've heard Juicy 3's weren't exactly brilliant :? thought they might have been ok for the purposes I was after. Have you used BB7's? I was going for these but have read they need constant adjusting.

As long as they are well setup they are fuss free

I had a bike with Deore mechanicals once, and they were fab.

I was gonna stick anything on there to get me going. I'm not sure if the deores are dual acting, which I've heard is not the best idea.

I've also heard that cable systems can be off/on? Little modulation.

Another vote for the standard Tektro Aurigas, had them on my Avalanche (and was using the front on the iDrive too) - a good budget set of hydros. Shimano LX is pretty good too, not quite so convinced by the bog standard Deore caliper though, seems to lock up pretty easily.

New deore mechanicals are good. the original ones were useless.

Pad material is far more relevant to modulation issues rather than cable vs hydraulic

Only functional diff between BB5 and 7's is adjustability of the outer pad. done with cable adjustment on the 5's, and a seperate pad adjuster on the sevens.

Scratch the Juicys methinks. For a bit of modern kit I've never read such bad press
