So if they all know everything, what's the problem with Virgin?
Do you wear a tinfoil hat as well?
Personally I don't think there is a problem with Virgin.

As to the hat thing, it's not paranoia, it's simply what government legislation has made ISPs have to put in place and be able to do.

Can't see that my posts here, or my Facebook page will be that interesting to anyone. So who cares?
Ok...

So why do you still seem so intrigued by it, then? You've replied twice, now, for somebody who apparently doesn't care?

It's a good job I'm not one of those tinfoil hat people, othewise, I'd be paranoid about you ;-)

The original thread was looking for recommendations for broadband. This has gone a little off topic.

So now a third reply - why? - I'm bored.

But BT is also an 18 month contract[as least the last one i had was, maybe they've changed that].
BT's line rental is about £12/month so you're saying you got your broadband[8-24meg] plus all your calls inc 0870 and 0845 numbers for £14-that total being £26

I phoned BT to complain our bill was too steep (creeping into £40s) and after a five minute conversation we got all our phone calls for £9ish + £15ish internet. Don't accept the first offer!!! Also can't fault their customer service or service in general

at the risk of going a bit off-topic

could you expand on that?

virgin, along with a few others wanted to use Phorm

They also are trialling Deep-Packet inspection software to monitor internet traffic, portentially in breach of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000

whether you are involved in any kind of file sharing or not, it bothers me that they take it upon themselves to get into other peoples business so much with out having a right to..

anyways, back on topic :)

BT to be fair have been alright connection wise up until recently, it was the original setup, the amount of times I had to call them because they'd miss informed me about the tv package and had to send it back, didn't sent the 3g dongle and then when they did charged £120 for it when they shouldnt of after saying it wouldnt come off my bill, then having to sort that out then them getting the direct debit payments wrong, I was ringing nearly every night for a couple of weeks and took forever to sort out. Virgin to be fair I can't fault their customer service we had the internet connection drop a fair few times though and the modem they supplied kept packing in so they'd have to send an engineer with a replacement, in fairness it was always next day on a week day but still mean't I had no internet again for the week. Think my biggest gripe was that virgin are pretty expensive though when you look at pricing or they were.

Well, as someone that occasionally goes to people's houses to fix their Internet connections, I have to recommend BT.

If you have a problem, phone up technical support. All of them are a bit rubbish, but where most of them will say at some point "Please contact your line supplier" and leave you stuck. BT can't do that.

The connection I'm using for this is using Plusnet, which has been OK. But as with all of them it's probably only fine because I've never had to phone their tech support.
