In fact the tubing isnt as big as I remember

There was a test of the Boss DX in MBUK back in 92? Think they quite liked it :?

it was just so much bigger than anything at the time, they do look pretty puny by todays standard!

Yea, I suppose you could be right.

I remember that review - made me laugh.

AFAIR, they said that it was a solid bike with good spec kit, but that they had increased the tube diameter without decreasing the wall thickness - which made for a....ahem....rather harsh ride!

My mate had one out the freemans catalogue- says it all really.
Think it was £500 for a nice shiny red example with 300LX.

Also sold as the "butt".....

I've got one!

Yes I've got one, 1993, had it from new! Black frame and yellow decals. Bought it for about £850 I think when my beloved Saracen Tufftrax was nicked at Uni. Nice bike, mine's been stored in the garage unused mostly since 1994, still got original tyres, brakes everything, not done many miles and got manual as well.
Took it out yesterday for a 3 mile run and it rode really well, very firm ride though.
Only found this forum having searched on google today as wondered when took it out for the first time in over a year yesterday whether it might be worth something to someone.
Will try and post a pic or two.

andy its probably not worth a lot
a night out with a curry and taxi fares

so welcome to the retrobike forum
dig it out, fettle it ,you'll enjoy that bit and err join the madness

do a few more posts( 5 i think) and get some pics up

hello all i have one of these and its still in great condition!

I had the oversize ally version with LX gears, hubs etc... what are they worth these days? I was thinking of selling it and buying a more up to date bike but now i am not so sure!!!

Also whilst digging around i found my old Super Tuff Burner Mk2... and the memories keep flooding back!!!!

Here's mine which I bought as an unused bare frame for £30. Kitted it out with XT and ride it most weekends. Not sure about the harsh ride comments, I think it's quite smooth.
