Break question... is it possible ?

Do the sids have a small hole drilled in the brace arch?? IIRC some did.

If you do, look for a kona cable hanger as fitted to some of the project 2 forks and adapt it to fit.

That brake booster is gonna be a too flexy solution... your front brake is going to feel like a sponge.

I found a Sid with 1" steerer for my Ritchey SoftTail, but wanted to use cantis, so i took some old Judy XC legs, bolted brace, canti version, opened the holes on the bottom of both legs (M6 to M8, from Sid), repainted, will put some Sid logos, and Ritchey cantis.

Takes time and a bit more money, but it´s a cleaner and safer solution...

thanks for that vitor , going to try a AC brake booster, using a rocker for now, just need to get the assembly of the rocker right, waiting on some pics from green rabbit then I shall assemble and see how it looks and works, before going down the road of messing about swapping forks etc..

Thanks for your advice..

97 onward judy lowers are interchangeable with most SID lowers.

Switch your SID lowers for a set of Judy lowers with a brace. Looks clean and more retro.

Running a cam off a brace sounds like a recipie for disaster.

Another option is to run a set of regular pauls cantis out back with a pauls crosstop on the front. This is what I ended up doing on a bike.

was the pace RC35 rocker not run off a brace ? this worked ok did'nt it ?

:? :)

it worked but not overly well. plus, the Pace brace was designed for a rocker - the SID brace is NOT. but it's your life of course ;)

Vbrakes with a Tavel agent work ok or use the Paul Cross-Stop brakes.

I am not planning on using the 'sid' brace but a AC Brake booster plate and hanging a rocker off this, ok not the prettiest but will be functional, and give me time to find another more retro fork !

i doubt that the designer of the AC booster had that use in mind. it's just that those rockers apply a sort of load to the booster or brace which they are not made for. ever had a front brake cable cracked? not nice...

if you just need time put a vbrake on and adjust it as good as possible with the canti brake lever. not great but at least it will give you reliable stopping power.
