Break question... is it possible ?

Hi there, after much scratching of the head and searching around for a solution I thought I would throw this at you to see if you can help .

The problem is :

I have a frame that was designed for cantis, but I want to put a new fork on it , namely a Sid, the Sid has no hanger facility for cantis , as it was designed to run a 'V' brake.

The brake levers and brakes I want to use are a set of M900s .. apart from running a separate 'V' Brake lever which will spoil the 'look' is there any way I could run cantis on this fork ?

I did think about using a brake booster plate and using a hanger off that, this so far is the only solution I can think of..

Has anyone else any ideas or suggestions please..

Your help would be much appreciated..

Si

Doesn't the brace have m5 holes on front or back, so you can fit a Suntour Powerhanger or such ??

you could get a 1 1/8" bolted (as in screw down to secure) cable hanger to use just above the top race of the headset as a spacer then run the cable down centrally the full length of the headtube to a hanger? it would look a bit odd, bit it would work...

I assume you mean a hanger off the headset.. this would not work as its a suspension fork , so every time the fork compressed the cable would go 'slack' :?

Which when you pull real hard on the front brake will compress the fork...

I can only think a brake booster will work. some have a hole predrilled, else it wouldn't be too hard to mount something on that...

if you cant drill the brace, can you clamp something to it? it would look pretty rudimentary. unless you go to great expense with a CNC shop, but two clamps would no doubt give the rigidity for it to work?
