Brake boosters on cantis yay!

At last today I fitted two NOS Tektro RBP brake boosters and like WOW ! What a difference in braking, the boosters of course inhibit the stays and forks flexing when slamming on the anchors, but now I got to relearn my braking technique as a dead stop is not always desired. But cantis with boosters are as good as linear brakes and a very good reason to keep cantis if one is dithering about replacing cantis with Vee's

Now the boosters I got came with the T2 Tri- Anchor lever action braking contraptions, they are not currently fitted, am still on straddle wires, but may try them at some point, get some new cables and outers so they can be swapped back with ease if I don't get on with them.

But the tri anchor T2 L shaped rocker thing, do they make the brakes even more powerful ? I had heard they are tricky to set up properly, but is it worth it I ask ?

Ta for that, it could help.

Most go on about going faster and I go on about braking, the reason being I live in Devon on top of a pretty hefty hill from any road direction and everything anywhere is down hill and seeing as am going for the land speed record most times going down my hill before they build the roundabout at the bottom, I need some hefty braking, but I want to keep the cantis. In the past I did use SE brakes with boosters, erm, I put a dip in the rim, but it was an old rim so probably past it, but am finding Alivio cantis with booster as good as the SE and both certainly better than the M735 cantis I had on my first MTB, they were nothing but trouble.

I love brake boosters on Vees. It's like putting a stick between the spokes. If only i could put brake boosters on discs ...

Mine, on my cro mega...

...certainly bring my currently corpulent bulk to a stop pretty quickly!

Got 'em on my Wot and my Kili Comp, and they're going on my Wot II... 8)

I have a blue ano Vee brake booster doing nothing at the mo, I was going to adapt it to fit the cantis until I happened on a nos Blue canti specific booster, not bad for about £11 posted.

Anyone want a good Tektro booster and the lever thingy, check out bankrupt bike parts on fleabay, I believe they have red, blue and gold on offer

Forget the rockers other than filling in a gap and looking a bit different.

First thing to change is your rims or brake pad, pads being the easiest. They are after all the real part doing the braking. After that the brake lever. The SLR+ style make braking easier in my opinion.

P.S. The rocker suits that CroMega pretty well though :)

Quick question, on do the rockers also bolt on to the booster in the Tektro setup ?

Yes, very rigid setup; couldn't resist the temptation to go and buy a red one for my Wot II
