Off to visit the parents up in Northumberland and shall be taking the bike. Now assuming I get away for a ride in the Cheviots as a given I was also considering a Trip to Glentress or Innerleithen. Should I do the two reds or just the big black at Glentress? Is Keilder worth a visit on the way past?

If you get up early enough head to Glentress first, do a loop and then spend the rest ofthe day at Inners. That's what I used to do at times.

I love Innerleithen!

Where abouts in Northumberland are going? You are really spoit for choice- there are some great options up here with Guisbro, Dalby, Keilder, Glentress, Inners, Dalbeatie, Ae etc all within 90 minutes as well as the Northumberland National Park, the North Pennines, North Yorkshire Moors, Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District all within easy reach.. in fact its probably the best place in the UK to live for quality riding. There are also the local spots.. Chopwell Woods with marked XC trails and a DH track and then Thrunton which has it all- secret trails (mega technical and well off the radar), XC, huge climbs and techy descents all with amazing scenery toward the Cheviots. On top of this there are hundreds of OldSkool routes over moorland around Hexham Common, The Cheviots and Blanchland Common.

I'm sure there will be one of the NE group kicking around to show you some of the Northumberland trails- have a word in the area section.

When are you coming up?

Cheers

I'm coming up on the Wednesday night before the bank holiday weekend. I think that Mum has some organised fun in mind already so free day(s) are yet to be discussed. We'll be staying in Harbottle, just up the Coquet valley from Rothbury. Have done some rides on the hills around that way with Tim Carpenter but that was some time ago.
